Projects

Six independent concept studies from 2026, three of them featured below. Each is for a real Los Angeles business, designed and built end to end by Lumera Creative LLC. None was commissioned, and none is an official website.

rōk coffee and tea

Independent concept study2026

Starting questionCan the signature drink be the first thing you feel, before you read a word?

Project overview

An independent digital concept for rōk, designed to translate the ritual of a pour into a focused interactive experience. The site uses motion to create a memorable product moment while keeping the customer journey clear across desktop and mobile.

The whole site on a laptop and a phone: the pour, the four cafés, an independent Fellow Carter Move Mug concept in 3D, press and the FAQ.
Scroll to pour. A recording of the live study, scrubbed by your scroll the same way the site is.

Objective

Give rōk a digital expression that feels as considered as the physical experience. The concept needed to create distinction and hold attention without letting animation compete with the information visitors need.

Lumera's response

We built a scroll-controlled pour that fills as visitors move forward and drains as they return. The interaction anchors the page and turns a familiar product ritual into a recognizable digital signature for the brand.

Project scope

Strategy · Creative Direction · UX/UI Design · Motion Design · Responsive Development

Project context

Independent concept study by Lumera Creative LLC. Experience strategy, original photography, interface design, motion, responsive development, product visualization, and supporting concept material were created by Lumera Creative LLC. Business names, product designs, and identifying marks remain the property of their respective owners.

Fellow product concept. Independent product concept featuring the Fellow Carter Move Mug, created by Lumera Creative LLC. It was not commissioned, sponsored, or endorsed by Fellow or by rōk. Fellow's product designs, name, and identifying marks remain the property of Fellow.

How we built it

The pour is built as a reversible scroll sequence, so the page responds to the visitor instead of playing as a passive video. Phones receive a cropped version of the sequence that decodes faster, and the desktop and mobile compositions were tuned separately for clarity, pacing and performance.

The effect works in any window size. With reduced motion turned on, a still image replaces the sequence and no video is downloaded. A pinned locations story draws a route between the four cafés and becomes a plain list on short screens or with reduced motion. Reviewed across representative desktop, tablet, mobile, and resized-browser layouts.

Tirzahs Mexi-Terranean Grill

Independent concept study2026

Starting questionCan one walk-up window show two kitchens at once?

Project overview

An independent digital concept for Tirzahs Mexi-Terranean Grill, built around the walk-up window where Mexican street food and Mediterranean grill meet. The experience turns that idea into a clear, scroll-led visit: an opening film that walks up to the window, a split view of the two kitchens, and a menu that stays easy to scan on every screen.

Concept images The two kitchens that share one window, as they appear in the study.

Objective

Make the restaurant's pairing the first thing a visitor understands. The concept needed to show two cooking traditions coming out of one window, then keep the menu and the way to order easy to reach without competing with the imagery.

Lumera's response

We built a scroll-led walk-up that ends at the window and then splits it into two kitchens. Visitors drag the window frame, or use the arrow keys, to move between the Mexican and Mediterranean sides and the dishes where the two meet. The menu below is organized by category, so a long board stays readable on a phone.

Project scope

Experience Strategy · Creative Direction · UX/UI Design · Motion Design · Responsive Development

Project context

Independent concept study by Lumera Creative LLC. Experience strategy, interface design, motion, responsive development, original photography, video, and supporting concept material were created by Lumera Creative LLC. The concept was not commissioned by, reviewed by, approved by, or produced in partnership with Tirzahs Mexi-Terranean Grill.

How we built it

The opening is a scroll-controlled film: scrolling walks the visitor up to the window, and scrolling back walks away. Phones receive a lighter version of the film so it plays smoothly.

The window frame can be dragged or moved with the arrow keys, and the menu categories work by keyboard and by touch. With reduced motion turned on, the page shows a still opening and the same content, without the scroll-controlled film.

BB's Bakery

Independent concept study2026

Starting questionCan a small bakery's site feel handmade, like the bread?

Project overview

An independent digital concept for BB's Bakery, built around the pen-and-pencil character already present in the bakery's identity. The experience carries that visual language into a clear mobile-first journey for exploring the products, understanding the bakery's personality, and finding practical information before visiting.

Concept images Inside the frame, the photograph. Outside it, the pencil sketch it started from. Both come from the study.

Objective

Preserve the bakery's distinctive personality while making everyday customer decisions easier. The concept needed to balance expressive illustration with clear access to the products and the practical information a visitor needs.

Lumera's response

We designed the experience like a sketchbook in motion. Product drawings transition into photographic scenes as visitors scroll, while a small illustrated guide creates continuity throughout the page. The interaction encourages discovery without letting the visual concept interfere with navigation or essential information.

Project scope

Experience Strategy · Creative Direction · UX/UI Design · Illustration Direction · Motion Design · Responsive Development

Project context

Independent concept study by Lumera Creative LLC. The experience was inspired by the pen-and-pencil character visible in BB's public-facing signage. Experience strategy, interface design, illustration direction, motion, responsive development, original photography, video, and supporting concept material were created by Lumera Creative LLC. The concept was not commissioned by or produced in partnership with BB's Bakery.

How we built it

The central transition connects line-drawn product states with matching photographic states. Scroll controls the transformation while the layout, typography and navigation stay put.

On phones the timing is simplified, interactions are touch-safe, and a dedicated composition replaces the desktop one, so nothing depends on hover or desktop screen dimensions. Motion follows the reduced-motion setting, and the site is prerendered so it still works without JavaScript.

Our approach

We don't start with a deliverable. We start with the problem.

Start a project
Steps, every project
  1. 01

    Understand what's in the way.

Before anything is designed, we find the actual obstacle: what people can't find, can't feel, or can't do.

  2. 02

    Find where technology helps.

Sometimes it's a website. Sometimes it's a tool, an automation, or less software than you expected.

  3. 03

    Design the system that fits.

Structure, interaction and look are designed together, for the people who will use it.

  4. 04

Build it, and test it properly.

Desktop, tablet and mobile layouts, resized windows, keyboards and reduced motion. Then we measure and fix.

Systems & automation

A website creates the point of contact. The systems behind it determine what happens next. Lumera designs connected workflows that capture information, organize requests, route work, and help businesses respond consistently.

Lumera capability demonstration

From inquiry to action

A scripted example with fictional sample data. It isn't connected to a real customer, inbox, CRM or production system, and it isn't client work.

  1. 01

    Capture

The inquiry arrives through the website and its details are stored in one place.

  2. 02

    Qualify

The request is checked for the information needed and sorted by type of work.

  3. 03

    Route

It is assigned to the workflow that handles that type of request.

  4. 04

    Notify

The people involved, and the customer, are told what happens next.

  5. 05

    Record

The request is logged in the pipeline with its status and next step.
